The John M. and Sally B. Thornton Pavilion was occupied in August of 1993 and continues to provide premier comprehensive health care to the San Diego community. The four-story building has an assignable area of 123,715 square feet, providing the space for excellent care in specialty surgery, fetal care and genetics, oncology and much more. Thornton Pavilion is located in east campus health sciences and is part of the nationally top-ranked UC San Diego Medical Center. The pavilion is named for John M. and Sally B. Thornton, long-time residents of San Diego and active philanthropists in the community, whose generous support enabled the establishment of this facility.
